Are webinars a way forward to better communicating?

The online discussion we had a while back on Your Square Mile went well I thought.

Can we take this a step further with webinars?

NatCAN are trying out the idea with a series of three on the topic Supporting Local Groups and Activists.

December 1st. (Matt Scott, Nick Beddow, Maxine Moar on the panel)

What is and isn't working to help support local groups and individuals have a say?

  • What are your personal experiences (Members thoughts)
  • What institutes are a block to allowing change and empowerment, which are working?
  • What national policies and thinking need to change to allow activities to get more involved?
  • Is the whole process designed to stop activists getting involved?
If anyone wants to sit in to see how webinars operate or join in on the night, register through the link above - there will be no charge.

There will be two further webinars on the same topic, January 24th and February 15th.

If there is any interest in this format for communicating with each other it shouldn't be much trouble to organise.

Thoughts please?

Hi - just come across this discussion.

Big Lottery Fund have been exploring using webinars to offer funding advice to infrastructure organisations and ran a series of pilot sessions in the autumn/ winter for funding advisers in South East England. We don't currently have the technology ourselves to deliver these so worked with a partner CVS to deliver them. The cost benefits to the sector were clear to all delegates, as well as the ability for those delegates to replay the information when needed. The delegates did not encounter too many technological difficulties during the session though of course they were run in an area where webinar delivery to these groups is already in operation.

We are currently looking at how to broaden these sessions to reach more people.
